Walmart has partnered with Uber, Lyft and Deliv to test delivery services for online grocery orders in the US.
The test will start in Phoenix in the next two weeks, during which it will use Uber, Lyft and Deliv drivers to deliver products.
Walmart e-commerce CEO Michael Bender was quoted by Bloomberg as saying: "We’ll start small and let our customers guide us, but testing new things like last-mile delivery allow us to better evaluate the various ways we can best serve our customers how, when and where they need us."
In March, the company used Deliv to deliver groceries ordered by Sam’s Club customers in Miami.
Walmart’s latest move is expected to offer new revenue streams for Uber and Lyft.
Walmart customers can order their groceries online, which the supermarket chain’s employees will pack and pass on to drivers of Uber, Lyft and Deliv. The drivers will then deliver the products at customers’ doorstep.
