UK supermarket chain Tesco is to end 24h opening hours at 20 stores across the country.
The outlets affected by this plan include those in the Crown Centre and in Hayes Way, Heath Hayes, among others.
Instead of operating 24h, the business hours at these stores will begin from 6am and continue until midnight.
This move comes five months after the company stopped 24h opening at its outlet in Brownhills.
In February, the company stated that it would look at cost-saving measures and widen its cutbacks in round-the-clock operations.
A 45-day consultation period has begun for around 2,000 employees affected by the changes.

By GlobalDataThese changes will impact Tesco Extra outlets and superstores, reported The Telegraph
It is expected that most of the affected employees might seek night shifts at nearby stores or accept changes in their shifts. Redundancy is considered as the last choice by the company.
Tesco retail director Tony Hoggett was quoted by the Grocer as saying that keeping stores at night was not a feasible option as there were sometimes ‘only one or two customers in the store’. Instead, the chain aims at improving customer service by having more staff during business hours.
More than 300 stores will now remain open round-the-clock.
