Total online searches for the UK retailers from key export markets in the fourth quarter of 2013 have seen a double and triple digit increase, according to a report by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and Google.
The report reveals that the UK retailers are making substantial investments in international online experiences, localised websites and faster delivery times to drive exports.
BRC director general Helen Dickinson said that the UK is the world’s second biggest online retail exporter, beaten only by the USA.
"We have taken a close look this quarter at four key export markets. We’ve seen huge increases in searches from all of the most important," Dickinson added.
Smartphone searches for UK brands from Germany increased by 231%, tablet searches from France rose 78% with the Netherlands and the US being on the same track.
Dickinson added, "There were also very positive results from the Russian Federation and Argentina.
