The group’s operating profit in the period decreased to £347.6m with profit before tax falling by 10% to 289.5m.
General Merchandise sales were down 2.5% with like-for-like also sales down 4.3%.
Online sales however increased 17.8% in the period and 21.6% in second quarter with international sales weighing in a 3.6% and 6.1%increase respectively.
M&S’ product portfolio includes apparel for men, women, and children besides lingerie, cosmetics, footwear, food items, homeware, groceries and ready meals.
The retailer currently operates through a network of 1,118 company-owned and franchised stores with 731 of the outlets present in UK alone.
