Home furnishings retailer IKEA is to open its new store in St. Louis, in the US state of Missouri in September this year, a move that will create 300 jobs.
The 380,000ft2 St. Louis store will feature Missouri’s largest rooftop solar array and has a parking space to accommodate 1,300 vehicles.
The store will also have 50 inspirational room-settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area, and a 450-seat restaurant serving Swedish specialties such as meatballs with lingonberries and salmon plates, as well as American dishes.
When open, the proposed store will sell close to 10,000 exclusively designed items.
IKEA St. Louis store manager John Achillea said: "We are thrilled by the construction progress made to date, and believe the remaining milestones and interior build-up will be completed by end of September.
"Besides furnishing our store, we are focused on training the 300 coworkers joining the IKEA family."
