IKEA has opened a 271,000ft² store in Memphis, Tennessee, US, marking its first outlet in the state.
The store is located on 35 acres in the Wolfchase Corridor, along the southwestern side of Interstate-40 near the Germantown Parkway exit.
The outlet features 10,000 exclusively-designed items, a 250-seat IKEA Restaurant, 45 inspirational room settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area and approximately 800 parking spaces with three electric vehicle charging stations.
Employing approximately 225 people, the Memphis store is the retailer's 392nd outlet worldwide, and 43rd in the US.
IKEA store manager Trisha Bevering said: “The enthusiasm of coworkers about this big day and the warm reception from the community are translating into excitement and a great shopping event for our customers.”
In September, the retailer completed the installation of a 250,657ft² solar panel atop its Memphis store.
