US-based start-up Brandleap has unveiled a distributed e-commerce platform, which enables brands and brick and mortar (B&M) retailers to compete with online sellers.

The move comes as consumers are turning to online retailers to acquire grocery products.

Brandleap CEO James Arth said: "These companies that have been sitting on the sidelines need to move quickly now to build scalable relationships with customer online, as well as in the store.

"Our goal is to help brands better connect with their consumer base and increase their sales, while at the same time, benefiting their grocery partners by providing higher online sales, and a new source of store traffic.

"Our goal is to help brands better connect with their consumer base and increase their sales."

"Brandleap's unique retail locator and e-commerce service enables a brand's existing web traffic to search for products in their local market, choose a retailer, and purchase without leaving the brand site.”

The company added that traditional grocery and consumer-packaged goods brands can sell directly to consumers by leveraging their existing grocery retailer's fulfilment capability.

In addition, the distributed e-commerce platform allows brands to increase sales and track conversion from their website while enabling retailers to sell brand name products across multiple brand sites.

Brandleap simplifies the process of discovering and purchasing products by streamlining the connection between consumers, brands and retailers.

The company allows consumers to choose between buying online and picking up in-store.
