UK-based online fashion retailer Boohoo has filed a petition to include bankrupt apparel retailer Nasty Gal into its business.

Last month, Nasty Gal filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the Central District of California in the US, reporting more than $20m in unsecured claims.

Boohoo filed the petition with Companies House, reported Business of fashion.

The filing lists out Boohoo secretary Allan Pollitt as the company's secretary and director and indicated offices at Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, as its address.

Boohoo filed the petition last month, after Nasty Gal indicated that is not able to repay its creditors.

With the aim of expanding its business in the US, it recently opened pop-up stores in Los Angeles and New York.

Businessoffashion.com reported that Boohoo may not be the sole bidder; other interest parties inlcude Authentic Brands, Asos and Sequential Brands.

The addition of Nasty Gal will enable Boohoo to boost its portfolio in international markets through its customer base and infrastructure support.
