US-based Atlas Air Worldwide has agreed to provide air cargo services to support Amazon’s delivery service.
Under the agreement, Amazon will lease 20 Boeing 767-300 converted freighters on a crew, maintenance and insurance (CMI) basis from Atlas Air, a subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide.
The term of CMI operations will be for seven years.
The deal also includes dry leasing by Atlas Air Worldwide’s Titan Aviation leasing unit for a period of ten years.
Operations will go into effect in the second half of this year, and extend to full service through 2018.
Atlas Air Worldwide president and CEO William Flynn said: "We appreciate Amazon’s confidence in our capabilities, global scale and operating excellence."
