Discount supermarket chain Aldi has plans to create 4,000 new jobs in the UK as part of its expansion strategy.
The German discounter currently has more than 700 outlets in the country and plans to have 1,000 stores by 2022.
The new positions will include assistants and store managers across its store and distribution network.
Last year, the retailer claimed that around 900,000 new customers have shopped at its outlets.
Aldi UK and Ireland chief executive Matthew Barnes was quoted by The Telegraph as saying: “We need more high-performing individuals to help us achieve our growth plans. In return, we offer market-leading pay and benefits and career development opportunities that are unrivalled in the supermarket sector.”
Claimed to be the highest paying supermarket chain in the UK, Aldi's store employees earn a minimum of £9.75 in London and £8.53 in other parts of the country.
Both Aldi and discount supermarket chain Lidl have experienced success in the UK due to their appeal to cash-conscious spenders and consumers affected by increased inflation.
Earlier this year, Aldi announced its plans to invest $3.4bn over the next five years to open 900 supermarkets in the US.
