British supermarket chain Morrisons has joined forces with discount platform Purpl to extend an exclusive online discount initiative for the disabled community in the UK.
The partnership aims to provide a 10% discount on online grocery purchases of £25 or more, directly benefiting the 16.1 million people – 24% of the British population – who live with disabilities.
Eligible customers can register for free with Purpl and confirm their disability status by submitting recognised documents such as the Access Card, the Blue Badge, the Disabled Bus Pass, the Disabled Persons Railcard, DLA or PIP.
Purpl verifies members within an hour, enabling them to use the discount code at Morrisons.com during checkout.
The supermarket chain is offering same-day home deliveries or allowing customers to schedule orders up to four weeks in advance for either home delivery or Click & Collect slots.
There is also an option for same-day Express or Click & Collect services. With nationwide delivery coverage, the cost for securing a delivery slot begins at £1.50.
The trial with Purpl is set to assess the impact and benefits for the disabled community across the UK. Moreover, this discount can be combined with Morrisons’ loyalty programme, the More Card.
This programme grants cardholders additional exclusive discounts on essentials and favourites, plus 5 More Card Points per product purchased.
Accumulating 5,000 More Card Points earns customers a Morrisons Fiver, redeemable on subsequent shopping trips either in-store or online.
Morrisons also offers its Food to Order service through Morrisons.com, catering to party food needs that customers can either order separately or include with their regular grocery haul.
Morrisons online and ability lead director Charlotte Exell stated: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Purpl to help make Morrisons more accessible to customers living with a disability. We know from listening to our disabled customers that they often face a number of additional living expenses and so this trial will help lower the cost of their grocery bills.”
In January 2025, Morrisons disclosed a rise in revenue to £15.27bn in the fiscal year 2023/24, 3.8% up from the preceding fiscal cycle.
