British multinational retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) has partnered with clothing repair and alterations organisation SOJO on a new initiative for customers.

From August 2024 onwards, M&S customers can book a repair service through the new online hub “M&S Fixed by SOJO.”

A range of bespoke repair services will be on offer, from zip replacements to invisible knitwear mending, through one online form.

With repairs starting from £5, M&S clothing can be sent, repaired by SOJOs in-house repair team, and returned directly to the customer’s doorstep within seven to 10 days.

The partnership is driven by recent M&S research which found that only 10% of the UK population is confident enough to repair clothing themselves and 60% of consumers are looking for retailers to offer more services that support them to lower their carbon footprint.

M&S has also revealed “Another Life”, which brings the retailer’s circularity services into one place.

Reducing textile waste is a key pillar of M&S’s Plan A roadmap to drive the circular economy. The partnership builds on the retailer’s established clothes donation scheme with Oxfam, which has collected more than 36m items of clothing and raised an estimated £23m.

M&S managing director of clothing and home Richard Price commented: “Exceptional quality products are at the heart of everything we do, and we want to ensure that all our clothes are too good to waste.”

The retailer recently revealed plans to invest more than £30m in its London stores network during 2024 and 2025.
