British multinational retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) has revealed plans to open a new flagship store in Bath, UK.
Located at Southgate, the 83,000ft² store represents a total investment of £17m.
The new store will feature M&S Food and the retailer’s extensive clothing and beauty ranges.
Employees from the existing Stall Street store will have the chance to transfer to the new location, which will continue to operate until the Southgate store opens.
The development is part of M&S’s store rotation strategy, which focuses on optimising store locations and space to enhance the customer shopping experience.
Following its recent full-year results, M&S has announced four new full-line stores and nine new food halls in the UK during the 2024 to 2025 financial year.

By GlobalDataM&S CEO Stuart Machin said: “We want to offer the best possible shopping experience for customers every single time they shop with us. This new £17m investment in a flagship Bath store means we can deliver on that promise and secure M&S’ future in the city.
“Our store rotation strategy is all about making sure we can showcase the very best of M&S – and that touch of M&S magic – from stores that excite and inspire. We’ve seen great results so far where we have relocated stores, in city centres like Liverpool and Birmingham, helping us to attract new customers and giving us the confidence to go faster with the strategy.”
The investment in Bath builds upon the £6m invested in M&S’s existing stores in the southwest of the UK over the past three years.
M&S has a significant presence in the region with more than 45 stores employing 4,000 individuals.
The retailer also collaborates with 1,100 select farmers in the region.
In May 2024, the retailer revealed plans to invest more than £30m in its London stores network during 2024 and 2025.
