Discount retail chain Lidl has announced that its new store at Anglia Retail Park in Ipswich, UK has entered its fit-out phase following the successful completion of the building works by Ipswich Borough Assets, an Ipswich Borough Council-owned company, and Brooks and Wood.

The development is set to bring Lidl’s high-quality, affordable product range closer to the Ipswich community.

The strategic location of the new Lidl store at Anglia Retail Park will bolster local retail options.

Ipswich Borough Assets chair Colin Kreidewolf said: “This development is a key addition to Anglia Retail Park and brings the prospect of 40 new jobs. We’re pleased to have played a role in bringing this project to fruition and growing the offering at Anglia Retail Park.”

With the building delivered on time, Lidl is now embarking on the transformation of the space into a modern shopping environment.

The store is expected to open before Christmas 2024.

Further updates on the store’s progress and the official opening date will follow.

The investment reflects Lidl’s commitment to enhancing access to its products, including fresh produce, bakery items and household essentials.

Ipswich Borough Council leader, Councillor Neil MacDonald, said: “The opening of Lidl at Anglia Retail Park is a fantastic development for Ipswich, reflecting our commitment to economic growth and improving local amenities.

“This new store not only brings more choice and value to our residents but also creates job opportunities that will benefit the community. It’s a testament to the collaborative efforts of Ipswich Borough Council and our partners.”
