Lidl GB has reported that its sales for the 2024 holiday season grew by almost 7% compared to the previous year, as over two million additional customers frequented its stores.
For the first time, the retailer’s turnover surpassed the £1bn mark in the four-week period leading up to Christmas Eve.
In preparation for the festive season, Lidl GB expanded its British supply base by 20%.
The retailer reported impressive sales figures, including more than 16 million British pigs in blankets.
British turkeys remained a popular choice among consumers, with sales reaching a rate of one per second. Three-quarters of a million of its roasting joints featured on dinner tables nationwide.
The discounter made it possible for households to have a full Christmas dinner at an exceptionally low cost of £1.78 per person. In addition, shoppers bought 6,500t of British vegetables from Lidl’s Pick of the Week selection at just 8p each.

The Lidl Plus loyalty programme saw significant growth with a 25% increase in users year-on-year and a 75% uptick in customers leveraging weekly discounts.

In October 2024, Lidl GB announced plans to open ten new stores ahead of Christmas, creating 400 jobs.
