American department store chain Kohl’s has reportedly been in talks with home decor retail chain At Home Group to explore an acquisition deal.
Sources familiar with the matter told Reuters that the deal, if materialised, would boost Kohl’s presence in the home goods segment. The sources further noted that there is no certainty on the deal between Kohl’s and At Home Group.
Both the retailers did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Reuters reported last month that At Home Group was considering options, which includes plans to sell the business amid poor stock performance and increasing competition.
The home decor chain is also said to be in advanced talks with private equity firms such as Hellman & Friedman.
Headquartered in Plano, Texas, At Home Group currently offers furniture, mirrors, rugs, art, housewares, tabletop, patio and seasonal décor, through 188 stores, in 38 US states.
