US-based fashion retailer JackRabbit, a CriticalPoint Capital (CPC) portfolio company, has acquired operations of retail sporting goods company Olympia Sports.

The deal covered certain assets and liabilities, including the online presence and the Olympia Sports brand.

Headquartered in Portland, Maine, Olympia operates brick-and-mortar stores across Northeast, US and operates through its e-commerce platform, Olympiasports.net.

Olympia Sports president Ed Manganello said: “We look forward to transitioning Olympia to the JackRabbit family and believe they will be outstanding stewards of the Olympia brand and its long-standing customers and vendors.”

JackRabbit currently operates specialty retail stores in 17 US states, as well as various e-commerce platforms, including jackrabbit.com, clevertraining.com, and surfoutfitter.com.

According to CPC partner Brad Holtmeier, the deal allows JackRabbit to expand its footprint and product categories into the athletic goods market. The acquisition will expand the company’s store network to 135 brick-and-mortar stores.

JackRabbit CEO Bill Kirkendall said: “This acquisition continues JackRabbit’s expansion and commitment to providing the most complete, high-performance product offerings, services, and experiences to the active lifestyle fan across all markets and channels.

“Additionally, we will continue to operate the acquired stores under the Olympia Sports banner.”

In May last year, JackRabbit completed the acquisition of Clever Training, an online retailer of fitness gear and technology.
