Grocery technology company Instacart has partnered with multi-format food retailer Giant Eagle to launch a chain-wide same-day grocery delivery service in the US.
The service will deliver groceries in an hour from more than 200 grocery stores across Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana and Maryland.
Using Instacart’s technologies, Giant Eagle will offer customers access to a selection of dairy, fresh baked goods, fresh produce, household goods, meat and prepared foods.
The service is now available on the Instacart App from more than 20 Giant Eagle and Market District supermarkets across central Ohio and Carmel, Indiana, with plans to roll it out to all Giant Eagle and Market District locations in the future.
In addition to groceries, the partners plan to launch a delivery service for alcohol from participating Giant Eagle and Market District locations in the coming months.
Giant Eagle, which operates more than 200 supermarkets and 270 GetGo locations, will integrate its myPerks loyalty programme into the Instacart App.
