US-based supermarket chain and online grocer iFresh is to start accepting payments through Alipay’s Mobile Wallet platform.
Operated by Alibaba’s affiliate firm Ant Financial, Alipay is widely used by the Chinese consumers to make online and mobile payments.
Alipay Americas president Souheil Badran said: “Many Chinese consumers shop at speciality grocery stores in the US where they can find Asian foods and other products that may not be available at local supermarkets.
“By accepting Alipay at the register, iFresh will provide both in-store and online customers with the ability to pay using a familiar payment method, diminishing any language or payment barriers they may have otherwise faced.
“We are thrilled to partner with iFresh to give their customers the best shopping experience possible whether they are living or visiting in the US.”
Through the activation and implementation support offered by CITCON, iFresh will be accepting payments through Alipay for purchases made through its website as well as at stores across the US.
