GrubMarket has officially acquired Cape Town-based fresh produce business Global Produce to expand its physical presence internationally and scale up operations in South Africa.
Global Produce, established in 2013, is a key player in the fresh produce sector, distributing a range of fruits from South Africa to customers in 44 countries.
Its product range includes grapes, citrus fruits, apples and exotic items such as Malaysian dragon fruit and Namibian Barhi dates.
The company has offices in Cape Town, Jakarta, Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City, and supplier bases across countries including South Africa, Morocco, Namibia, Egypt and Australia.
Through its vertical integration initiative, Global Produce also supports local African agriculture, which packs goods under its GEO brand, connecting local farmers directly with international markets.
GrubMarket plans to integrate Global Produce, which will retain its current leadership team, with its advanced technology platforms including the AI-powered WholesaleWare software suite, GrubAssist, and its custom branded, mobile eCommerce solution, Orders IO.
