US-based privately-held grocery chain Festival Foods has partnered with SmartSense by Digi to deploy SmartSense food safety solutions across its 32 locations.
The retailer selected SmartSense for task management and continuous temperature monitoring, as well as to help it enhance food quality and safety, increase employee efficiency and reduce inventory loss.
Festival Foods has tested SmartSense solutions during a 30-day pilot programme for real-time, product-level monitoring in all refrigeration units, food temperature monitoring in deli sections and automated task management.
Festival Foods food protection and regulatory affairs director Hsing-Yi Hsieh said: “SmartSense is a proactive approach to equipment maintenance and food safety that gives us the operational oversight we need to improve our bottom line and serve our guests better than ever.
“Now, every store has real-time access to temperature and food safety data at the product level, and we’re able to get ahead of any potential issues well before they become a reality.”
In addition, the solution will assist the company to accurately monitor temperature readings and automated record-keeping. It will reduce lost inventory and manual tasks as well as save money and employee working hours.
SmartSense by Digi offers subscription-based services to wirelessly monitor task management activities and the temperature of perishable goods across food service, healthcare and retail industries.
Festival Foods is entirely family- and employee-owned with more than 7,500 employees working across Wisconsin.
