E-commerce marketplace eBay UK has declared an exemption from selling fees for private sellers across all categories.
The fee removal excludes motors such as cars, motorcycles and vehicle listings.
This significant change, effective from 1 October, means private sellers will not be required to pay final value fees or regulatory operating fees on eBay.co.uk.
Earlier this year, eBay UK initiated free selling in the fashion category and is now extending this benefit to all categories.
The move is part of eBay’s commitment to enhancing the selling experience by offering a more efficient and secure platform.
New features in the marketplace enable sellers to quickly list items with the help of pricing and shipping guidance, AI-generated descriptions, and photo-enhancing tools.

By GlobalDataeBay UK also introduced a simple delivery service, which is being implemented across categories.
The service provides sellers with a tracked and fully insured delivery option at competitive rates, prepaid by the buyer.
Additionally, eBay Local, a new feature set to launch later this month, will enable shoppers to find items for in-person collection nearby, with the security of eBay’s Money Back Guarantee.
The new feature aims to improve the visibility of sellers’ listings to local buyers and streamline the payment process, as well as enable sellers to use their earnings to shop on eBay, promote their listings, or purchase delivery labels.
Private sellers will have their balance automatically transferred to their bank account every three months, but they can also request a withdrawal at any time.
Business sellers, on the other hand, will maintain control over the frequency of their payouts.
Furthermore, eBay is introducing additional benefits for business sellers, including enhanced protection against fraudulent returns and increased access to dedicated support to help grow their businesses.
eBay UK general manager Kirsty Keoghan said: “eBay is constantly improving the marketplace experience in order to deliver on what our customers want. Removing selling fees across categories is designed to give buyers access to greater breadth and depth of inventory while creating a simplified and streamlined experience for sellers.”
In May this year, eBay launched a new “resell on eBay” feature designed to simplify the process of listing clothing for resale.
