Household appliances retailer East Coast Appliance is gearing up for expansion across the US through various strategic initiatives.
The company will focus on additional sales and adding warehousing space in Hampton Roads as well as expand its presence Northern Virginia market.
It has also acquired 45,000ft2 Toys R Us property on N Military Highway in Norfolk and plans to add an extra 40,000ft2 of space to the location.
The Military Highway location will serve as an East Coast Appliance Superstore, a warehouse and distribution centre.
It will also act as the company’s corporate headquarters to better serve the region.
East Coast Appliance owner Rob Nicholson said: “The retail appliance business is changing rapidly. With the demise of Sears and others in this market, we see greater opportunity for growth.
“This expansion coincides with our new business growth strategy of offering same day / next day delivery, unparalleled depth of in-stock selections, larger retail store format, more scratch n dent ‘value’ products to fit any budget and our ‘best price or it’s free’ guarantee that has established dedicated customers and frustrated our competitors.
“The closing of Toys R Us stores came at just the right time to offer us some outstanding real estate opportunities.”
The retailer will also expand its presence in Virginia markets by acquiring a 30,000ft2 Toy R Us retail store at Central Park in Fredericksburg.
Retail Advisors co-founder and principal broker Rob Heavner represented the retailer in these acquisitions.
East Coast Appliance was established in 1988 and offers all major appliance brands and provides delivery and service to customers.
