Local commerce platform DoorDash is working with design marketplace Minted to offer nationwide delivery of greeting cards in the US for Valentine’s Day 2024.

Gifts will be available on DashMart, a new type of grocery and convenience store on DoorDash.

The partnership is aimed at Gen Z and Millennial consumers to meet their demand for seamless transactions and fast deliveries.

The collaboration with Minted will begin with a focus on Valentine’s Day, to be followed by a broader assortment of cards for everyday occasions, featuring artwork from independent artists.

According to the Greeting Cards Association, most greeting card purchasers, industry-wide, are between 35 and 60 years old.

The National Retail Federation reported that total spending on significant others for Valentine’s Day is expected to reach $14.2bn in 2024.

GlobalData analysis finds that retailers must reflect the diversity of consumers celebrating Valentine’s Day with clear messaging to target those purchasing for family, friends and themselves.

Minted CEO and co-founder Melissa Kim commented: “Millennials and Gen Z consumers seek the right balance in the products they buy: where convenience meets quality.

“This partnership makes it possible for consumers to purchase artisanal products that express their individuality — and support the livelihoods of independent artists — with the immediacy and convenience of on-demand delivery this Valentine’s Day.”

In 2023, DoorDash joined forces with supermarket ALDI to launch an on-demand alcohol delivery service.
