US discount store chain Dollar General has partnered DoorDash to integrate SNAP [Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program]/EBT [Electronic Benefits Transfer] payment options at 16,000 locations through DoorDash Marketplace.

The inclusion of Dollar General expands DoorDash’s network of stores accepting SNAP/EBT online payments via the DoorDash platform to more than 35,000.

The initiative is made possible through a partnership with Forage, a payments company with a focus on social impact. As a result, SNAP beneficiaries now have access to on-demand grocery delivery from Dollar General stores in 48 states.

Customers using SNAP can now purchase eligible products from Dollar General through the DoorDash Marketplace.

Available items include fresh and frozen foods, pantry staples, snacks and essentials.

Dollar General senior vice-president and chief marketing officer Tony Rogers stated: “Dollar General’s mission of serving others includes helping customers save time and money everyday. Unlocking the ability for SNAP/EBT recipients to shop online and have groceries delivered straight to their door through DoorDash provides even more accessibility and convenience.

“With 75% of the US located within five miles of a DG store, we are proud to bridge gaps to serve the communities we call home.”

DoorDash is one of the largest online marketplaces providing grocery delivery access to SNAP/EBT recipients across the US.

The platform connects with 99% of its monthly active consumers in the US.

DoorDash new verticals vice-president Fuad Hannon stated: “We’re proud to collaborate with Dollar General to further this commitment, ensuring even more SNAP beneficiaries nationwide can conveniently access fresh, affordable groceries with the dignity and ease they deserve.”
