British co-operative Co-op has opened its new convenience store in the revitalised residential area of Cardiff’s Dumballs Road, in Wales.

The store boasts a variety of features, including a Costa Coffee Express and an in-store bakery, with an emphasis on fresh, healthy produce and everyday essentials.

The Cardiff store is designed to cater to the needs of the community, providing meal ideas, food-to-go, and meal deals.

It also offers a selection of Fairtrade products, flowers, chilled beers, and award-winning wines.

For those with dietary preferences, the store includes free-from, vegan, and plant-based options.

In a move to adapt to modern shopping habits, Co-op has partnered with Deliveroo to offer online home delivery of groceries.

This service ensures that groceries are picked fresh from the local store and delivered swiftly within the community.

Additionally, customers can use the convenience of parcel collection through an InPost Locker.

In line with its commitment to sustainability and local sourcing, as all fresh and frozen meat and poultry, even within ready meals and sandwiches, are sourced 100% from British farmers and growers.

The store also features a soft plastic recycle unit, allowing the community to recycle items such as crisp packets and bread bags, furthering Co-op’s goal to ensure all its own-brand food packaging is recyclable.

Spanning 2,500ft², the new store operates under a Co-op franchise.

This follows the Universal Retail Group’s successful launches of other Co-op stores in Wales earlier this year.

Co-op store manager Ieuan Feeley said: “The whole team is delighted to have the opportunity to launch the newest Co-op store in Wales – we are looking forward to welcoming our member-owners and customers into their brand-new Co-op. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve our community, conveniently.”

In July 2024, Co-op announced the opening of a new store in Parbold, West Lancashire, and the re-opening of a store in Killay, Swansea following renovation.
