British supermarket retail chain Asda has named Rob McWilliam as its new chief financial officer (CFO) after the current CFO Alex Russo decided to step down.
Russo joined Asda in 2014 after serving various roles with major brands such as Tesco, Kingfisher and Boots in the UK, Europe and Asia.
In 2012, McWilliam left the supermarket chain as its finance director and joined Amazon UK, where he led finance and consumables.
In January, the company announced that he will work with Asda on a consultancy basis in supporting the strategic development of the company.
Asda CEO Roger Burnley said: “In the light of Alex’s move, we’ve been looking for a CFO who combines a deep knowledge of UK grocery retail, knowledge of Asda and Walmart relationships, and the skills to support the work we have to do to successfully complete our combination with Sainsbury’s.
“With that in mind, after four years with Amazon UK, leading finance and consumables, followed by 18 months in a variety of non-executive roles, we’re pleased to announce that Rob McWilliam will be rejoining Asda as chief financial officer.
