US-based speciality discount retailer Blain’s Farm and Fleet is planning to open new retail stores in Michigan this year.
The retailer is said to have finalised Jackson and Portage for its new store, which will open later this year.
With the new stores, the total number of Blain’s Farm and Fleet stores will be increased to 40.
Blain’s Farm and Fleet owner and president Jane Blain Gilbertson said: “Several years ago, we announced an aggressive expansion and reinvestment plan.
“In the first steps of that plan, we opened our new stores in Romeoville and Elgin, Illinois, and we are currently making significant investments in remodelling and expanding existing stores in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and Kankakee/Bourbonnais, Illinois.
“Expansion into Michigan is the next step. We welcome the opportunity to serve the hard-working people of Michigan.”

By GlobalDataBlain’s Farm and Fleet noted that the decision to further expand its footprint was taken after a significant exploration of various markets throughout Midwest US.
The new store in Jackson, Michigan, is said to have received township approvals, and the 120,000ft² store will be located at 3555 O’Neill Drive.
On the other hand, the Portage store is yet to receive final approvals from the concerned authorities. For this store, Blain’s is planning to add nearly 30,000ft² to the existing building to create a 109,000ft² store.
