Mexican grocery delivery service Jüsto has teamed up with Amazon to make its products available through the US retailer’s platform in Mexico, reported Bloomberg.

This partnership is set to enhance the online shopping experience for Mexican consumers by expanding the inventory of fresh products available while providing Jüsto with increased exposure to a larger online audience.

The collaboration between Amazon and Jüsto will enable shoppers on Amazon’s Mexican website to purchase a variety of items with Jüsto handling the delivery process.

The agreement aligns with Amazon’s broader strategy to expedite order delivery times and enhance its offerings of everyday essentials typically purchased from physical stores.

Jüsto founder and CEO Ricardo Weder was quoted by Bloomberg as saying that local producers benefit from partnering with Jüsto by selling larger quantities at better prices.

He said: “Upwards of 68% of our products are sourced from small and medium Mexican producers. We have a few success cases where really small producers are now selling five to seven million pesos per month.

“Our goal in the next 18 to 24 months is to operate in all of Mexico’s main cities. The market opportunity is so big that we have plenty left to do.”

Last month, Jüsto secured $70m in equity and debt financing, with General Atlantic leading the investment round while HSBC México arranged the debt facility of approximately $20m. Other investors included Femsa Ventures and Grupo Bimbo.

In the US, Amazon owns organic grocery chain Whole Foods Market and operates a network of Amazon Fresh-branded stores offering a range of mainstream grocery items.

Jüsto serves several cities in Mexico such as Monterrey, and has a smaller presence in Peru and Brazil. The company employs approximately 2,500 people across its operations.
