E-commerce giant Amazon is set to allow auto dealers to start selling their vehicles online in the US for the first time in 2024.
The move has seen Amazon enter into a strategic partnership with South Korean automotive manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company to become the first automotive brand available for purchase and improve the customer experience.
As part of this multi-year agreement, Hyundai will leverage Amazon Web Services (AWS) capabilities such as storage, analytics, database and computing to expedite its digital transformation.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said: “Hyundai is a very innovative company that shares Amazon’s passion for trying to make customers’ lives better and easier every day.
“Our broad, strategic partnership should do just that, from changing the ease with which customers can buy vehicles online to making it simple to use Alexa in Hyundai vehicles for entertainment, shopping, smart home adjustments and calendar checks to enabling Hyundai to transform their customer experiences and business operations by moving to AWS. We look forward to inventing together for many years.”
Customers can purchase a car online and schedule delivery from a local dealership or pick it up themselves at their convenience.
