US multinational technology company Amazon has today announced it will create over 2,000 permanent jobs in the UK in 2019. The move will take Amazon’s permanent workforce to over 29,500 by the end of the year.
Job roles offered include engineers, data scientists, software developers, and cloud and machine learning experts, as well as entry-level positions.

Over 170 of the jobs created will be based at Amazon’s Development Centres in Cambridge, Edinburgh and London. The company said that these roles are highly-skilled and will work on exciting and innovative new technologies that benefit its customers around the world.

“This government is supporting business to create the high-skilled, high-paid jobs of the future, and these roles will benefit people across the UK, including the cities of Cambridge, Edinburgh, Manchester and London.

Amazon UK operations continue to create new job openings
Amazon has invested over £9.3 billion in its UK operations since 2010, with the company taking the number one positions on this year’s LinkedIn list of Britain’s Top Companies and GlobalData’s top ten most influential companies in retail.
This year, Amazon announced it will open a fulfilment centre in Kegworth, East Midlands and Chesterfield. The moves are said to create more than 700 permanent jobs. It also announced plans to create 1,000 new apprenticeships in the UK over the next two years.
In its US operations, Amazon also announced it will expand its Austin Tech Hub, in Texas, creating more than 800 new tech jobs.
