Life, Physical, and Social Science Occupations, with a share of 9% new job postings, was the occupation with the greatest hiring activity in the South & Central American retail industry in Q2 2024 , ahead of Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.
The other prominent roles included Management Occupations with a 3% share in Q2 2024, Sales and Related Occupations with a 2% share and Production Occupations with a 1% share of new job postings.
Top five companies accounted for 63% of hiring activity
The top five companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined 63% of the overall hiring activity in the South & Central American retail industry in Q2 2024.
Raia Drogasil posted 2,829 jobs in Q2 2024 and registered a growth of 21% over the previous quarter, followed by Lojas Renner with 1,622 jobs and a 6% growth. Cencosud, with 809 jobs, and Companhia Brasileira de Distribuicao, with 719 jobs, recorded an 18% rise and a 63% rise, respectively, while Amazon recorded a 7% increase with a 585 new job postings during Q2 2024.

Brazil held the leading share of the South & Central American retail hiring activity with a 71.30% share, a 28% increase over Q1 2024. Colombia was next with 13.37%, four-percentage-point down over the previous quarter.
