Notably, Sales and Related Occupations jobs accounted for a 31% share of the global retail industry’s corporate governance-related total new job postings in Q2 2024, down 1% over the prior quarter.

Sales and Related Occupations drive corporate governance-related hiring activity

Sales and Related Occupations, with a share of 31%, emerged as the top corporate governance-related job roles within the retail industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 1% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q2 2024, with new job postings dropping by 19% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent corporate governance roles include Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations with a 9% share in Q2 2024, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in retail industry accounted for 56% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Walmart, Albertsons, National Vision, TravelCenters of America, and Walgreens Boots Alliance. Together they accounted for a combined share of 56% of all corporate governance-related new jobs in the retail industry.

Walmart posted 3,584 corporate governance-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Albertsons 2,556 jobs, National Vision 1,805 jobs, TravelCenters of America 1,793 jobs, and Walgreens Boots Alliance 1,278 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 75.89% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of corporate governance-related new job postings in the retail industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 75.89% followed by the UK (7.33%) and Australia (4.87%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points higher than the 70.58% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
