The industry’s overall hiring decreased 5.64% in December 2020 compared with November 2020.
Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.41% share in December 2020, recording an increase of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.

Out of the total job titles, the top four roles commanded a 98.12% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US retail industry in December 2020.

Top five retail companies in US IT recruitment activity in December 2020
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 24.49% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US retail industry during December 2020 over November 2020.
Amazon posted 1,096 IT jobs in December 2020 and registered a rise of 15.37% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 194 jobs and a 12.14% growth. CVS Health with 170 IT jobs and Macy’s with 64 jobs, recorded a 123.68% growth and a 357.14% increase, respectively, while NIKE recorded a 1.89% decline with 52 job postings during December 2020.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2020
Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.23%, up 1.33% from November 2020. Entry Level positions with a 25.54% share, registered a growth of 39.74% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 22.8% share, up 9.47% over November 2020. Senior Level postings accounted for 0.43% share, recording a month-on-month increase of 50%.
