The US’s retail industry registered a 37.1% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.88% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the retail industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 1.59% share in November 2022, recording a decrease of 1.24% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s retail industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.15% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry in November 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 57.63% in November 2022, registering a 59.23% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 13.87% share, a decrease of 22.34% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.77%, registering a 34.87% decline from October 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 10.07%, down 11.17% over the previous month.

Top five retail companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 53.26% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s retail industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

Walmart posted 308 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a drop of 6.38% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 253 jobs and a 79.84% drop. CVS Health with 125 IT jobs and Home Depot with 100 jobs, recorded a 17.22% decline and a 35.14% growth, respectively, while Chewy recorded an increase of 23.08% with 96 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 50.6%, down by 52.58% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.6% share, registered a decline of 42.78% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 22.67% share, down 49.72% over October 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.13%, recording a month-on-month decline of 71.43%.
