IT jobs accounted for a 7.52% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering an increase of 1.16% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 85.71% in October 2021, a 15.15% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 6.12% in October 2021, marking a 53.85% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 4.08% in October 2021, a 71.43% drop from September 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 28.47% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s retail industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 75 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered an increase of 15.38% over the previous month, followed by Americanas with 11 jobs and a 26.67% drop. Magazine Luiza with 6 IT jobs and SMU with 4 jobs, recorded an 86.05% drop and a 33.33% drop, respectively, while adidas recorded a 75% decline with 2 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s retail industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 62.24% share in October 2021, a 37.11% decrease over September 2021. Argentina featured next with an 11.22% share, up 1000% over the previous month. Colombia recorded an 11.22% share, a drop of 15.38% compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.14%, down by 36.36% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 31.63% share, registered a decline of 11.43% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.22% share, down 38.89% over September 2021.
