September 2021 has seen a decrease of 1.82% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.09% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.64% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 69.26% in September 2021, a 15.58% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 15.2% in September 2021, marking an 18.92% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 7.69% in September 2021, a 28.23% drop from August 2021.

Top five retail companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 37.04% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s retail industry during September 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 355 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 39.22% over the previous month, followed by Inter IKEA Holding with 119 jobs and a 72.46% growth. Zalando with 94 IT jobs and H & M Hennes & Mauritz with 49 jobs, recorded an 18.99% rise and a 19.51% rise, respectively, while adidas recorded a 16.67% increase with 49 job postings during September 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s retail industry
The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 28.67% share in September 2021, a 53.95% decrease over August 2021. Germany featured next with a 19.95% share, up 10% over the previous month. Sweden recorded a 9.5% share, a growth of 42.86% compared with August 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.12%, down by 10.67% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 16.41% share, registered a decline of 22.45% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.13% share, down 25.49% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.35%, recording a month-on-month growth of 33.33%.
