A total of 36 deals worth $1.62bn were announced in Q3 2019, compared to the last four-quarter average of 33 deals.
M&A was the leading category in the quarter with 20 deals which accounted for 55.6% of all deals.
In second place was venture financing with 11 deals, followed by private equity with five transactions, respectively accounting for 30.6% and 13.9% of overall deal activity in the country’s retail industry during the quarter.

2) The $374.41m private equity deal with Liberty by Glendower Capital
3) CF Bacchus Holdings’ $121.24m private equity deal with Majestic Wine
4) The $37.59m venture financing of SCA Investments by BGF Ventures, Hargreave Hale, MMC Ventures, Perwyn and Unilever Ventures
5) Accel, Balderton Capital (UK), Christoph Kroschke HoldingKG, Daimler and Vitruvian Partners’ venture financing of carwow for $30.39m.
