The value marked an increase of 684.02% over the previous month of $1.94bn and a rise of 328.5% when compared with the last 12-month average of $3.55bn.

North America held a 68.24% share of the global consumer industry M&A deal value that totalled $22.29bn in April 2021. With a 66.53% share and deals worth $14.83bn, the US was the top country in North America’s M&A deal value across consumer industry.

In terms of M&A deal activity, North America recorded 71 deals during April 2021, marking a decrease of 18.39% over the previous month and a rise of 12.70% over the 12-month average. The US recorded 58 deals during the month.

The combined value of the top five consumer deals stood at $12.48bn, against the overall value of $15.2bn recorded for the month.
