June 2021 has seen an increase of 19.33% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.82% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering decrease of 1.49% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 60.44% in June 2021, a 27.91% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 16.48% in June 2021, marking a 7.14% month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.19% in June 2021, a 71.43% growth from May 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 25% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s retail industry during June 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 40 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a an increase of 11.11% over the previous month, followed by Magazine Luiza with 19 jobs and an 1800% growth. Lojas Americanas with 12 IT jobs and CarrefourSA with 5 jobs, recorded a 33.33% growth and a 44.44% drop, respectively, while Walgreens Boots Alliance recorded a 55.56% decline with 4 job postings during June 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s retail industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 69.23% share in June 2021, an 110% rise over May 2021. Jamaica featured next with a 7.69% share, down 22.22% over the previous month. Chile recorded a 6.59% share, a growth of 20% compared with May 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.93%, up by 27.66% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 23.08% share, a growth of 31.25% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.99% share, up 25% over May 2021.
