June 2021 has seen an increase of 20.16% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 9.44% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2021, registering decrease of 3.24% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 60.32% in June 2021, a 47.22% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 14.29% in June 2021, marking a flat month-on-month an increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Research Scientists with a share of 9.52% in June 2021, a flat growth from May 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 38.46% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s retail industry during June 2021 over previous month.
Amazon posted 27 IT jobs in June 2021 and registered a decline of 50.91% over the previous month, followed by Shoprite Holdings with 11 jobs and a 26.67% drop. Mr. Price Group with 5 IT jobs and The Foschini Group with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while X5 Retail Group recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during June 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s retail industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 46.03% share in June 2021, a 35.56% decline over May 2021. Israel featured next with a 15.87% share, down 61.54% over the previous month. Jordan recorded a 9.52% share, a drop of 14.29% compared with May 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.02%, down by 36.11% from May 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.87% share, a decline of 41.18% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.11% share, down 30% over May 2021.
