Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity

Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations, with a share of 26%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the retail industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 41% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 17% in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 15% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent future of work roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 9% share in Q2 2024, Office and Administrative Support Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in retail industry accounted for 64% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were CVS Health, Amazon, Walgreens Boots Alliance, Walmart, and Woolworths Group. Together they accounted for a combined share of 64% of all future of work-related new jobs in the retail industry.

CVS Health posted 8,250 future of work-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Amazon 6,277 jobs, Walgreens Boots Alliance 5,007 jobs, Walmart 3,392 jobs, and Woolworths Group 1,756 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 73.71% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the retail industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 73.71% followed by Canada (8.18%) and India (4.35%). The share represented by the US was four percentage points higher than the 70.06% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
