US-based company Amazon’s IT hiring declined 9.1% in June 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 6.14% in June 2021 when compared with May 2021.

IT jobs claimed a 34.39% share in the company’s total hiring activity in June 2021, and recorded a 0.95% down over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Amazon IT hiring in June 2021

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Amazon, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 86.75% in June 2021, and a 5.12% drop over May 2021, while Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a share of 4.94% in June 2021, and registered a 13.3% decline. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 2.74% in June 2021, a 29.05% drop from May 2021.

North America drives IT hiring at Amazon

North America emerged as the leading region in the global retail IT hiring activity in June 2021 with an 81.13% share, which marked an 8.35% drop over the previous month.

Asia-Pacific stood next with 12.91%, registering a 1.2% month-on-month decline. Europe was the third leading region with a 4.21% share and a 1.26% growth over May 2021.

In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 1.05% and a month-on-month an increase of 11.11%.Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.71%, registering a 50.91% drop over the previous month.

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s retail industry IT hiring activity with a 78.49% share in June 2021, an 8.02% decline over May 2021. India featured next with an 8.88% share, down 13.04% over the previous month.Canada recorded a 2.27% share, decline of 20.91% compared with May 2021.

Junior Level jobs lead Amazon IT hiring activity in June 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 52.78%, down by 32.03% from May 2021. Entry Level positions with a 31.7% share, a growth of 88.35% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 15.47% share, up 13.41% over May 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.05%, recording a month-on-month an flat growth.
