Outdoor speciality retailer REI Co-op has unveiled its plans for a series of new store openings in six US cities in the spring and summer of 2025.
The new stores will be located in Carlsbad, Chico and Elk Grove, California, in Amherst, New York, in Durango, Colorado and in Lynnwood, Washington.
Each location will offer a comprehensive range of outdoor apparel and gear for activities such as camping, fitness, hiking, climbing and cycling.
In addition to their retail offerings, all new REI stores will feature full-service bike shops with certified mechanics.
These shops will provide tuning and repair services for mountain, road, hybrid and e-bikes.
The stores in Amherst, Durango and Lynnwood will also house seasonal ski and snowboard shops with technicians to service winter sports equipment.

By GlobalDataFor 2026, REI has announced two new leases: a 23,848ft² store in Prosper, Texas and a 22,800ft² store in St. George, Utah, building on its growth momentum. Additional store announcements will follow as leases are finalised.
The Amherst store will span 25,300ft² at the Boulevard – the seventh REI location in New York.
The Carlsbad store represents a relocation from Encinitas to a larger 28,000ft² space at La Costa Town Square.
Chico’s new 25,002ft² store will be situated at Chico Crossroads.
Lynnwood’s relocation sees the Alderwood store moving to a larger 39,480ft² site at the Alderwood Parkway Plaza Shopping Centre.
Durango’s newly constructed 22,000ft² store is set south of the downtown corridor, while
Elk Grove will welcome a 22,127ft² space at the Laguna Gateway Shopping Centre.
By the end of 2024, REI Co-op will have launched ten stores and expanded its San Diego location.
