The Beer Store (TBS) has embarked on a significant expansion in the Ontario marketplace, Canada, announcing new partnerships and investments to enhance consumer offerings and distribution capabilities.
The move is a strategic response to recent government changes in the retail sector.
The company is bolstering its distribution fleet and operations, supporting 4,000 new convenience store customers and planning 10,000 new points-of-sale (POS) in the autumn of 2024.
The expansion has enabled TBS to seamlessly support the acceleration of large format pack sales in grocery stores over the summer.
With a well-established position, the company is set to continue its support for the sector’s transformation.
Customers can now access convenience items including snacks and energy beverages from several partners both in-store and online through e-commerce orders.

TBS president Roy Benin said: “We see this as a new chapter for The Beer Store and we’re excited to compete. All of our channels – from distribution to retail to deposit return – will continue to deliver for Ontario.”
The company has allocated $100m in future-focused projects, including renovations to select retail stores across the province, enhancing the shopping experience for customers.
A new distribution centre has been established in Bolton.
The company is also establishing third-party delivery partnerships with platforms such as Canada’s Skip the Dishes, covering 95% of stores for rapid delivery.
It has upgraded POS technology to improve reliability and convenience for shoppers.
