By GlobalDataThis initiative aligns with Co-op’s commitment to ensuring all its own-brand food packaging is recyclable, either through local authority kerbside collections or in-store recycling units.
Co-op store manager Azar Mahroof said: “The store also has a focus on delivering value, with member price savings across a wide range of everyday essentials so that the people who own our business, our member-owners, benefit every time they shop.”
In addition to the London store, Co-op has also opened a purpose-built new store in Ashley Down, Bristol.
The 7,000ft² store on Gloucester Road supports 20 local jobs and offers services similar to those of the new London location, including parcel collection through DPD, a Costa Coffee Express, hot food, an in-store bakery and online grocery delivery via Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.
Ashley Down’s Co-op store also provides customer car parking, a free cash machine for community access to cash, and a soft plastic recycling unit to support the community’s recycling efforts.
In June 2024, Co-op opened a new 2,250ft² convenience store in New Romney, Kent, UK.
