US-based CONTROLTEK, a provider of tamper-evident packaging and asset protection solutions, is set to introduce its Enhanced Exit RFID [radio frequency identification] solution at 2024’s national retail security event, NRF Protect, to be held from 4 to 6 June in Long Beach, California,
The advanced system is designed to help retailers detect and prevent theft instantly and gain deeper insights into store operations.
The Enhanced Exit RFID solution leverages RFID technology to monitor store exits, high-theft areas and restricted zones, offering retailers the ability to respond quickly to theft incidents.
It provides real-time notifications, sending immediate alerts via email or SMS when items are taken from the store or moved into unauthorised areas such as employee-only zones or back-of-house exits.
Retailers can customise the system’s dynamic alerting capabilities to receive notifications based on specific parameters, such as the movement of high-theft items or when multiple items exit the store simultaneously.
The solution can be integrated with existing infrastructure, distinguishing between purchased and stolen items to streamline investigations and enhance security measures.

By GlobalDataCONTROLTEK CFI president Tom Meehan said: “Retailers today face unprecedented challenges in protecting their assets from both internal and external theft.
“Enhanced Exit takes retailers’ loss prevention strategy to the next level with the integration of RFID technology to understand at an item level what is leaving the store and alerting them in real-time when it does, so they can take action.”
At NRF Protect, the company will hold live demonstrations of the Enhanced Exit RFID solution.
