Supermarket chain Aldi has initiated a nationwide campaign to engage the UK public in selecting optimal sites for upcoming store launches.

The retailer, now the country’s fourth largest supermarket, is seeking help to identify areas that would benefit from a new Aldi store.

The suggestions with the highest frequency will be considered in line with Aldi’s plan to construct hundreds of new outlets throughout Britain.

Aldi will inform customers about the results and its updated priority list in the second half of 2024.

The supermarket chain has more than 1,000 stores in the UK and has set an ambitious target of establishing 1,500.

In April 2024, it disclosed the locations of 35 new stores set to open during the year.

Aldi UK national real estate managing director Jonathan Neale said: “We want to make high-quality food accessible to all, but there are still some areas that either don’t have an Aldi or have the potential for more stores.

“We’ve identified some key places where there is demand for more stores already, but now we are calling on the public to share their views. This will be used to help inform our property search over the coming years.”

Aldi has been expanding operations, attracting customers with its affordability and quality offering during the cost-of-living crisis.

In April 2024 it committed to continue cutting prices in 2024 to maintain its place as one of the UK’s lowest-priced grocers.
