Sainsbury’s has officially opened its newest supermarket in Meols Cop Retail Park, Southport, UK, offering a comprehensive selection of products and services for residents and visitors.
The 45,000ft² store boasts a food hall. Featuring fresh produce, bakery items, frozen goods, and everyday essentials, the food hall showcases Sainsbury’s revitalised commitment to ‘Good food for all of us.’
Digital signage throughout the store helps customers navigate easily and find what they need.
Beyond groceries
The new supermarket extends beyond groceries, offering popular Sainsbury’s brands such as Habitat and Tu Clothing.
Customers can conveniently shop for toys, homeware, and electronics alongside their groceries at the Argos store located conveniently within the supermarket.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s director of Property, Procurement and EV Ventures, said: “It was also really exciting to celebrate the launch of another Smart Charge location, part of our plan to give confidence in public EV charging a major boost by building a trusted ultra-rapid charging brand that helps reduce range anxiety for EV drivers nationwide.”
Community engagement
Ash Metcalfe, Sainsbury’s Southport Meols Cop store manager said: “This is a really proud moment for me and my team as we launch an amazing new supermarket that puts our commitment to providing good food for all of us into practice for the benefit of all our customers in and around Southport.”
The store will participate in Sainsbury’s ‘Nourish The Nation Programme’, partnering with Neighbourly to reduce food waste and donate surplus food to Shoreline Church, a local food bank.
