US independent grocer Metcalfe’s Market has furthered its commitment to customer service by expanding the adoption of Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions’ self-checkout systems.
The move is part of the retailer’s strategy to maintain its identity while scaling operations effectively.
The partnership with Toshiba evolved in 2023 with the integration of more Self Checkout System 7 solutions across all Metcalfe’s locations.
This expansion is supported by collaborations with North Country Business Products (NCBP) and LOC Software, aiming to use the system’s data-driven capabilities and loyalty programmes.
Since introducing self-checkout in 2016, Metcalfe’s has seen a steady increase in customer usage, prompting the addition of eight new self-checkout lanes across three stores in 2024.
Toshiba Self Checkout System 7 streamlines accounting processes and reduces queue times, enhancing the shopping experience.
